# How to Set Up Passkeys (Liquid Auth) in Pera Wallet

## What Are Passkeys?
Passkeys replace passwords with cryptographic authentication tied to your device. Instead of typing a password, you verify your identity with biometrics (fingerprint, face scan) or a hardware security key. They can't be phished, guessed, or reused across breaches.
Pera Wallet uses **Liquid Auth**, a decentralized passkey standard, to bring this security model to your wallet and beyond. Once set up, you can use your Pera passkeys to sign in to supported websites and services — without creating yet another password.
**Key points:**
* Passkeys are available for **Universal Wallets only** (not Legacy Algo25 wallets)
* Your passkey is stored securely on your device — Pera never sees it
* You can create, view, and delete passkeys from the Pera app

## Setting Up Passkeys in Pera
### Step 1: Open Settings
1. Open the **Pera Wallet** app
2. Navigate to the **More** section
3. Tap the **Settings** gear icon in the upper-right corner

### Step 2: Access the Passkeys Menu
In the Settings menu, tap on **Passkeys**.

### Step 3: Enable Passkeys on Your Device (If Needed)
If passkeys aren't already enabled on your device, you'll need to turn them on:
* **On iOS:** Go to **Settings > General > Passwords & Passkeys**
* **On Android:** Go to **Settings > Passwords, Passkeys & Accounts**

### Step 4: Register Your Passkey
Once passkeys are enabled on your device, return to Pera Wallet. You can now register passkeys using your **Universal Wallet**.

## Using Passkeys to Sign In to Websites
Passkeys aren't just for Pera — you can use them to authenticate on any website that supports the WebAuthn standard.
### From Your Desktop:
1. On a website that supports passkeys, start the passkey registration or sign-in process
2. The site may prompt you to use a phone or security key
3. Select **Save Another Way** (or the equivalent option in your browser)

4. Select **Use a phone, tablet, or security key**

5. A QR code will appear on your desktop screen

6. Open your phone's camera and scan the QR code
7. Select your **Pera Account** from the passkey list
8. Authenticate with biometrics to confirm
You're now signed in — no password typed, no password stored.

## Managing Your Passkeys
### View stored passkeys
1. Open **Pera Wallet** → **More** → **Settings** → **Passkeys**
2. View all registered passkeys
### Delete a passkey
1. From the **Passkeys** screen, locate the passkey you want to remove
2. Tap to delete and confirm

Deleting a passkey from Pera removes it from your device. If you used it to sign in to a website, you'll need to set up a new authentication method on that site.

**Do I need a Universal Wallet for passkeys?** Yes. Passkeys are only available for Universal Wallets (BIP-39 HD). If you're using a Legacy Algo25 wallet, consider creating a Universal Wallet to access this feature.
**What if I lose my phone?** Your passkeys are tied to your device. If you lose your phone, you'll need to set up passkeys again on your new device. Your wallet itself can be recovered using your recovery passphrase — passkeys are an authentication convenience layer, not a replacement for your recovery passphrase.
**Can I use passkeys on both mobile and desktop?** You create and manage passkeys on Pera Mobile, but you can use them to authenticate on desktop websites by scanning a QR code with your phone.
